Signs and Symptoms

Do you know what to look for?

Our bodies have evolved to give us clues, in the form of symptoms, when something is wrong and needs addressing.  Unfortunately our modern culture has evolved to mask, cover up, numb and, in effect, ignore these vital messages.  Learning to recognise, understand and act on your symptoms will go a long way to moving you towards optimum health and wellness.

Here are some questions that will help you consider your body’s warning messages and how chiropractic care may help relieve the symptoms and tackle their underlying causes.

Do you suffer from headaches or migraines?

A frequent and overlooked cause of headaches is the malfunction of spinal bones in the neck and upper back. They have several triggers but migraines can stem from irritation of the nerves close to the vertebrae of the neck or from tension in the muscles around the jaw.

Painkillers may cover up the warning signs but they do not correct the underlying structural cause of the headaches.  Chiropractic is effective at relieving headache pain and helping reduce re occurrence.

Are you posture perfect?

Stand front on to a full length mirror. Are you shoulders exactly even? Are your hips at the same height? Now stand side on and ask a friend to check your posture. They should be able to imagine an exactly vertical line running from down through your ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. Any asymmetry is a sign that you have poor posture which can lead to painful structural problems.

At The Windsor Clinic we can give you a full posture evaluation and advice on how to achieve and maintain perfect posture everyday.

Do the heels on your shoes wear out unevenly?

This can be due to uneven leg length (which is very common) or stress on your spine. Either way, chiropractic can help address this imbalance and prevent problems further down the line.

Does your foot flare out when walking? Do you feet both point forward, or does one foot appear to flare outward or inward?

Foot flair may be a sign of a problem in the lower spine or hips. It can also be related to stress in the upper neck or base of the brain. Chiropractic care can help remove this stress and imbalance and we can tutor you in adopting better posture.

Do you feel fatigued, have constant low energy or difficulty concentrating?

When misaligned joints irritate your nervous system, this hampers the flow of messages between your brain and the rest of your body, sapping energy and directly impacting brain functioning and health.

Chiropractic adjustments aim to relieve any impingement on the nervous system, allowing it to get on with its job of keeping you alive and full of vitality.

Are you frequently ill? Do you get every virus going?

By helping your nervous system to function at its best, chiropractic boosts your immune system, enabling your body to naturally fight off disease and infection.

Do you know the signs?

Do you get a stiff neck and back or soreness between the shoulder blades?

Pain and reduction in motion are signs that the bones in your spines and joints are out of alignment, placing pressure on and irritating the nerves that exit your spine. This reduces your nervous system’s ability to send and receive vital, life-giving messages.

Chiropractic care works to adjust the bones in your spine and joints back to a more normal position, relieving the painful irritation on the nerves.

Does your jaw click?

If the jaw is misaligned, it does not work properly and, rather like a poorly-hung door, it becomes stiff to use, locking and grating until damage occurs or, preferably, you do something about it. Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat ‘clicking jaw’ and other TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) problems.

Do you have tender spots, tension or shooting pains in muscles and joints?

These are all signs of structural abnormalities and your chiropractor will work with you to diagnose the cause, relieve the soreness and tackle the origin of the pain.

Can you move your head smoothly, without pain or clicking, from looking over one shoulder to the other?

A stiff or reduced range of motion indicates that chiropractic adjustments could help.

Do you suffer from pins and needles or numbness in your hands and feet?

These are both signs that a structural misalignment is causing problems for the nerves feeding your hands or feet. Chiropractors are trained to detect and help correct such problems.

Do you have breathing problems or feel that you do not breathe deeply enough?

Chiropractic has been shown to help with breathing problems such as asthma and improving your posture will greatly aid the efficiency of your breathing.

If you notice any of the above signs or feel that your body is trying to tell you that a problem needs addressing, do not ignore it, give us a call today and we can check it out in our fully equipped clinic.
